Sobi2 Tutorial - Pagination Next and Previous Links Not Working

I recently ran across a client's website that was not allowing visitors to choose the Next and Previous links at the bottom of the page in the Sobi2 Component using the SobiSEF plugin to create the SEF URLs. As it turns out, the client is constantly adding new listings to his directory, and every 20 entries or so causes an additional page number to be created. That's when the trouble started showing up.

What's The Problem?

It seems when you click the Previous, Next, Start or End links at the bottom of the page, it would simply revert back to the home page of the directory and not the page you were trying to access.

It took me a few minutes to figure out what was wrong, but I realized, the SobiSEF plugin stores SEF links in the database and since these pages were not created at the time the URLs were generated, the navigation was not functional after you added the new listings and an additional page number as added to the array.

Here's the Fix

Here we are using Sobi2 RC 2.9.2.3 and SobiSEF 1.6 on Joomla 1.5.15.

Every time there’s 20-25 new entries we have to do the following.

Go into your Joomla Admin and select Extensions > Sobi2 from the top menu.

Now on the left navigation, choose Plugins > SobiSEF.

Check the box that says Purge URL's after save and click the Save icon up on the top right.

Now select Configuration> Recount Categories.

Click the large Recount Categories button.

Now go to front of the site and click your Sobi2 menu item on the main menu.

Go through and click each page number at the bottom of the listings one at a time and you should be done.

Once at the end (this time it was 6) then click the First or Previous links and it works! Now click End or Next and it works as well…

This will have to be done everytime there’s 20 or 25 new entries, or enough to fill a page basically.

To see a live example of what I'm talking about, you can visit my web design portfolio to see the links at the bottom of the page.
