Follow Friday - Folks who Get It in Social Media

I'm going to start a new series here on Roberts Web Design blog. I want to share with you some people I follow on Twitter and Facebook that know how to use social media tools responsibly. They share great stuff, and for the most part, are pillars in their respective communities on the web.

What's the Big Idea?

There's a ritual on Twitter that you send out a tweet or two of folks you 'follow' each Friday. It's supposed to be a list of people you follow closely, or enjoy their respective tweets and knowledge they share. The problem is, the list of people you like to follow usually ends up being quite a bit more than the 140 characters in which you are allowed to post in a tweet. So I took the advice of Chris Brogan and decided to make it a blog post instead.

People Who Get It in Social Media

Chris Brogan @chrisbrogan - Chris is a great leader in marketing and social media, not to mention a best-selling author with his book Trust Agents. He gives away a ton of information on his blog at http://www.chrisbrogan.com and is one of the founders of the Online Marketing Strategies That Work membership site, Third Tribe (affiliate link). If you want a deeper understanding of how to use Social Media in your business, Chris is the man with the plan.

Dave Navarro @RockYourday - No, not that Dave Navarro. Dave is The Launch Coach and comes highly recommended by me and others within this list. I started following Dave about a year ago and the free stuff he gives away on his blog to teach you about Marketing and successfully launching products is better than what most people charge good money for. If you're looking to get an idea off the ground and want to sell online, you need to check out Dave's blog.

Darren Rowse @ProBlogger - Darren is a really well rounded blogger who started ProBlogger.net to chronicle his experience as he was growing his Digital Photography School blog. As it turns out, he's now known as one of the 'go-to' authorities on blogging. I first heard of Darren when I picked up his e-book 31 Days to Build a Better Blog (affiliate link) during a Sitepoint book purchase, and have been following his blog ever since. He's also a founding member of Third Tribe, so I get to utilize his experience first hand in the forum over there.

Naomi Dunford @IttyBiz - Naomi is one of a kind, and if you like your Marketing and Social Media shaken not stirred, she's the gal for you. Warning! Naomi holds no punches and tells it like it is. If you have any issues with the F bomb, this might not be the blog for you. Naomi has helped literally thousands of folks who are home-based businesses. She likes to call them IttyBizzes and she's got a lot of great stuff to teach you the basics of marketing on a budget. I love to see Naomi's blog posts in my feed reader, and her tweets are usually just as good. I'm currently reading the eBook she did with Dave Navarro, How to Launch the XXXX Out of Your e-Book (affiliate link) and really liking their style.

So Who do you follow on Twitter or Facebook to learn more about marketing? Is this an area you want to learn more about?
