If you look back at the early designs of Roberts Web Design, we haven't strayed a lot from the initial layout. You could almost say it's a trademark of this site to run the info column down the right side. We do this because studies have shown that users naturally scan a page from top left to mid right and back across in a zig-zag pattern. So important information is better seen on the right side of the page than the left.
Some of the features included in the current version of Roberts Web Design are the Portfolio using the Sobi2 Directory component, and the header graphic slider from Gavick. This template was built from scratch of course and is w3c compliant like all of our other client sites.
Our main goal with the newest Joomla template was to create a lighter and brighter design that was still pleasing to the eye, yet simple by design. We integrated a few new components and modules to feature our client sites more prominently on the front page. The Gavick Tabs Manager uses the Mootools framework to make the images slide across the page without reloading the browser. We simply customized it using CSS to fit our needs.
The Sobi2 Directory used for the Portfolio is something we have found many uses for on a number of client sites. With it's separate template system and custom fields, you can pretty much make it into anything you want that needs to hold products, people, businesses, images, files or videos in an organized manner. There is constant development for the component, and the development team of Neo and Trinity at http://www.Sigsiu.net are some of the hardest working people in the Joomla-sphere. Being on the support and development team for Sobi2 doesn't hurt either when it comes time to choose a great Joomla component!
